The start of it all!

So, this is where the journey begins. One small step for mankind, but one giant leap for me. I’ve always wanted to go somewhere after I finish studying. I’ve had a longing for adventure and new experiences beyond what Halmstad holds me. I feel like each day is the same, I can’t stand this banal day-to-day routine. I crave something different, I need to get away from this small town and go on a trip.

I’ve always wanted to go to the US. I have been there once with my family, but I was so young I can barely remember a thing from that trip. Back then, we went to visit my uncle and cousin who lives in Denver. I don’t see my relatives very often because of the distance, but they’ve been to Sweden and they are really nice. Luckily my mom took lots of polaroid pictures during this trip. She took the pics when we were hiking in the Rocky Mountains together with my cousin and uncle. Now I’m looking at these old yellow polaroids and it evokes something in me, I know that I need to see this is the place again.  

Two weeks after graduating upper secondary school, I started packing my bags. The butterflies were going all crazy in my stomach. I had been in touch with my cousin Elinore and Uncle Filip. They were very excited to see me again and so was I to seeing them again. I will be staying with them and hopefully they can show me around a little bit. I really want to recreate that hike we did to the beautiful Rocky Mountains, but I guess that’s something that I should bring up once I’m actually there. For now, all I will focus on is getting all my luggage ready and getting myself ready for my first time travelling alone. I will keep you guys updated!
